SIC ICWC TOOK PART IN AN INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE “A CLOSER LOOK AT WATER IN CENTRAL ASIA”

On 18 May 2023, an international conference was held at the International Institute of Central Asia on the theme: "A Closer Look at Water in Central Asia".

The conference was organized by the International Institute of Central Asia, French Institute for Central Asian Studies, French Embassy in Uzbekistan and French Development Agency.

The conference was attended by the ambassadors of France and Uzbekistan, representatives of the diplomatic corps, international organizations, expert-analytical and research institutions of Uzbekistan and France, representatives of ministries and government agencies and higher educational institutions of Uzbekistan.

The participants addressed the issues of efficient and rational water use in Central Asia, prevention of negative effects of climate change, and adoption of innovative knowledge and best practices to overcome these challenges.

Director of SIC ICWC, D. Ziganshina spoke on regional water cooperation and the role of science in this area. She invited French partners to work more actively on public-private partnership mechanisms, to share experience on interacting with local authorities on water management and protection, and to build cooperation under the program “Water, Heritage and Culture”.
